The best AI virtual try-on apps in 2026, compared

October 19, 2026 · 8 min read

The best AI virtual try-on app depends on how you shop. If you shop on a computer and want to see whole outfits from different stores on you, ChangeMyFit is the best fit: drag pieces from any website into its browser sidebar and it dresses your photo in all of them at once, at your real height. On your phone, FitRoom, DrapeAI and Looksy try clothes from images or links, Fits is best for planning outfits from clothes you already own, and Google's Try on is free for products listed on Google Shopping.

Below: how they compare, what each is best for, and the catch with each. Details come from each app's own listing and site, checked in September and October 2026. Prices change often, so confirm before you pay.

What to look for in a try-on app

  • Which clothes it accepts. Any image or link from any store, or only its own catalog? Catalog-only tools can't show the jacket you found on Instagram.
  • Whole outfits or single items. Most apps swap one garment at a time. Real decisions are about outfits: does this top work with these jeans and those shoes?
  • Does it look like you? Your face, skin tone and build should stay the same, and your height should be right, or every long coat looks perfect on you.
  • How much friction. Screenshotting, switching apps and re-uploading your photo add up fast when you're comparing options.
  • What it costs. Weekly subscriptions add up; one-off credits that never expire suit occasional shopping better.
  • Privacy. Where your photos go, and whether they're used to train AI.

Image quality

The model behind a try-on decides how real it looks: whether your face stays yours, and whether fabric, patterns and layers come out right. ChangeMyFit always makes looks with the best image model available. When a new one comes out, we test it on real outfits and switch if it's better, so your looks improve without you doing anything. Today that's OpenAI's GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. Most other tools don't say which model they use.

ChangeMyFit

Best for: whole outfits from any mix of shops, at your real proportions.

ChangeMyFit is a browser extension, so it lives where most people actually compare clothes: on their computer, with shop tabs open. It adds a sidebar with eight slots, Outerwear, Top, Bottoms, Shoes, Hat, Glasses, Bag and Jewelry, and you drag pieces into them from any shop, Pinterest, Instagram or Google Images. You can drag straight from a grid of search results too, and it finds the product's page. Hit try on and in 30 to 60 seconds you see the whole outfit on you.

  • Your real height. Add any photo where your face is clear, even a selfie, plus your height. ChangeMyFit makes a full-body photo of you guided by a figure drawn at your exact height, so hems and lengths land where they would on you.
  • Consistent results. Every look is a single edit of one full-body photo of you, never an edit of an edit, so your face doesn't drift from look to look.
  • Steal a whole look. Drop an outfit photo into one slot and fill every empty slot from it in one click.
  • Organized. Looks keep their pieces with links back to each product, grouped into named fits like "Wedding guest" or "Office".
  • Fair pricing. 2 free looks with no card needed, then 20 looks for $5 or 100 for $20. No subscription, and credits never expire. Photos are never used to train AI.

The catch: it's a desktop browser extension, so there's no phone app. If you shop mostly on your phone, pick one of the apps below and use ChangeMyFit when you sit down to decide.

Google Try on

Best for: quick, free checks on products listed on Google Shopping.

A "Try it on" button appears on supported clothing in Google Search, Shopping and Images, in a growing list of countries. Upload a full-body photo and see that product on you. It's free and needs no install, but it only covers products in Google's shopping listings, works one product at a time, and needs you to be signed in. Google's standalone try-on app, Doppl, was shut down in 2026, with try-on carrying on inside Search.

Fits

Best for: planning outfits from clothes you already own.

Fits is a digital closet: photograph your wardrobe and it helps you combine pieces into outfits, with an AI stylist and a calendar. Try-on is a second step, using AI credits on its Pro plan. Great if you want to organize your closet, less useful if you just want to see a new item from a shop on you.

FitRoom

Best for: simple single-garment swaps on the phone.

Upload a photo of yourself and an image of a garment, and FitRoom swaps it in. The free plan is limited and watermarked; paid plans unlock more. It's straightforward, but you'll be saving images and switching apps for every item.

DrapeAI

Best for: trying a product from a link on the go.

DrapeAI lets you paste a product link, or use any garment image, and see the item on your photo. One garment per try-on. There's a free tier with limited credits and watermarked sharing, and a Premium subscription.

Looksy AI

Best for: copying an entire outfit from one image.

Looksy swaps your whole outfit for one from an image, or one you describe in text. It's on the web and iOS, with a few free swaps a day and paid credit packs. It's good for trying a full look from a photo, less good for mixing specific pieces from different shops.

GlamAI

Best for: iPhone users who want to swap tops, bottoms or full outfits.

GlamAI works from its own catalog, items you find online, or images you upload, and can swap a top, a bottom or the whole outfit. Full try-on needs a subscription.

Zalando's virtual fitting room

Best for: Zalando shoppers in Europe.

Zalando's fitting room uses an avatar built from your measurements to show how its own products fit. Useful for sizing, but it only works with Zalando's catalog.

ChatGPT and Gemini

Best for: one-offs, if you already pay for one.

General AI assistants can dress your photo in uploaded clothes, including several pieces at once if you prompt carefully. Everything is manual, though: saving images, writing prompts, re-uploading your photo in each chat, and your face can drift with each edit. See how to try on clothes with ChatGPT.
